Mango tree Restaurant at Stonefield Villas Resort St.Lucia

Caribbean fusion

When traveling are you someone that looks forward to tasting the finest cuisines?

If St. Lucia isn’t on your list of places to travel to then you need to add it ASAP! From the views to the food, the experience is priceless. One of my favorite places to dine while there was Mange Tree Restaurant at Stonefield Villas Resort. If you’re looking to try the BEST rum punch, then this is where you need to be!

OUR FARM-TO-TABLE MANGO TREE RESTAURANT

Price

The prices are beyond affordable for the quality of food you are getting that is truly from fresh farm-to-table. With the most expensive dish being $28 and drinks costing more than $10.50, it is easy to get carried away and try a plethora of items on the menu…which I recommend.

Tip: Make a reservation for around sunset for incredible views.

food

Made with fresh local ingredients, the food was superb. It is a St. Lucian twist on many of your known favorites. We started with calamari and a jerk chicken salad. Both were finger-licking good. The calamari was cooked to perfection and the jerk chicken salad came with just enough dressing that nothing else was needed. We even tried the pumpkin soup which tasted fresh and opened our appetite for our next course.

For our entrees, we had the sirloin steak that came with peppercorn sauce, sweet potato fries, and green salad. The steak was flavorful and soft. We also ordered the catch of the day which came with green fig mash, vegetables, passion fruit dressing, and herb butter sauce. The green fig mash was mashed plantain similar to Puerto Rican mofongo but more delicate. There were additives like vegetables and mangos that enhanced the flavor.

The desserts were assorted ice cream vanilla, rum chocolate, and a flavor I’ve never tried before, avocado. Now I can not eat avocado or guacamole. For some reason it always makes me want to puke. The avocado ice cream which is made in-house tastes nothing like the fruit. To the point that I surprisingly ate all. I also had the creme brulee with a twist. Instead, it was made with pumpkin and I still think about it to this day.

I am not a big drinker but the drinks are A1. I usually would never order a rum punch, they always taste like spoiled juice, but THIS ONE! I have no idea what they put in it, but it overpowers the fruit punch taste and goes down great. I also recommend the foggy piton.

Ambiance

Dining al fresco with views of the piton and the Caribbean sea is a dining experience unlike any other. The open-air restaurant combined fine cuisine with Caribbean nature. As a girl from the city, I appreciated the greenery and visits from cute birds, not pigeons and sea-gulls, which I am used to in New York.

service

The service was perfect and polite. Anica was very knowledgeable about the menu and what each choice consisted of. She was also very attentive and always made sure we didn’t need anything. What I loved most were the suggestions she offered, which seemed to best suit us. Anica made us feel welcomed and interacted with us more than just guests.

My experience was great and would definitely visit again and recommend this MangoTree for lunch. Make sure you make a reservation for this tourist destination. Would you give this place a try?
