6 Skincare Travel Necessities

Hey everyone, Tati, better known as, The Skincare Barbie here! In this post, I want to share my 6 absolute favorites, MUST have skincare travel necessities.

As a skincare junkie and future licensed esthetician, having a proper skincare routine at home is a #MAJORKEY. Keeping up your routine while traveling is just as important because when it comes to getting your skin balanced, CONSISTENCY IS KEY!

  1. SPF

Ladies and Gents, SPF is a major key. You MUST wear SPF every day, 24/7, 365, all seasons. It is mandatory in your regime. SPF benefits our skin mainly because it protects from UV rays that cause skin cancer, aging, wrinkles, loss of firmness, dullness, and uneven pigmentation. Make sure the SPF you're using protects against UVA and UVB rays, and reapply (if you remember) every 2hrs.

2. Cleanser

Cleansing your face after a long day exploring a new city or country is pretty obvious. Using a proper cleanser helps remove excess oil, makeup, sweat, dirt, and dead skin cells. It refreshes your skin and gives your complexion a chance to breathe. I recommend daily cleansing nightly.

3. Moisturizer

Moisturizer is another important skincare necessity. Don't think because you're wearing SPF that your skin is hydrated and moisturized. All skin types, even oily skin need a moisturizer. Moisturizer is necessary to maintain your skin's moisture barrier, prevent environmental damage, and reduces the chance of developing extreme dryness or oiliness. Both extremes are harmful to the skin and cause acne or other skin conditions.

4. Mask

I know some people may think that bringing a mask on vacation is not important, but trust me, IT IS! I like to use masks that can do more than one thing, so I'm not traveling with a lot of products. Depending on your skin type, what your skin needs, and which mask you use, masks have various benefits. A facial mask is one of the easiest ways to get healthy and supple skin within a few minutes. I love using a great mask after a day out in the sun, it helps relax, soothes, and rehydrate.

5. Makeup Wipes

If you're someone who likes to slay and wear makeup while traveling (like me), makeup wipes are a savior. There are tons and tons of different makeup wipes and it's definitely to figure out which ones are best for you and your skin type. I love using wipes that are soft and have a lot of moisture because they are SO refreshing and soothing.

6. Lip Care

Lip care is so neglected and slept on, and people forget that our lips are just as important as our face. Our lips have the thinnest layer of skin, so they need some extra TLC, especially during traveling. I love, love, LOVE using heavier, thicker-based lip products because our lips need so much hydration, and don't forget, our lips also need SPF. Yes, your lips can and will get sunburn and it's so uncomfortable.
