Here Are 5 Things You Need to Do NOW If You Want To Travel

Most of our 2020 travel plans has halted, but that doesn’t mean we should forget abut traveling altogether. What are the biggest misconceptions about traveling? Money, time, knowledge and more all reasons people say is the main grounds that they are not able to travel. I will not say that traveling isn’t a luxury because it truly is, however I will say that it can be achievable is you absolutely put your mind to it. I am sharing 5 things you need to do now if you want to start traveling…or start back for that matter.

Finances

Finances is a never ending spectrum that seems as though it will always be an unfulfilled burden. We all wish that we can be earning more income to fund our wildest dreams. My #1 tip is to:

  • Create a budget a spreadsheet - with doing this you can see what you are bringing in and what you are spending. If you do not have much left over start looking into cutting subscriptions like streaming services, and find ways for generating more income. Find creative ways to save, I am more prone to saving money when I do not carry cash, so I rarely ever withdraw cash. I also send 20% of my direct deposit into savings automatically. The best part is that my savings account is with a different bank so that I never see that money when logging into my everyday banking app. Think of ways so that your money is out-of-sight, out-of-mind.

Also, I tell myself that I am a millionaire, I just don’t have all my money yet =)

passport

People who have a passport are more likely to book a trip than those who do not. Why is this? Having a passport gives you more confidence to see the world. If you do not have one, you can become discouraged about the process and put off that trip. Did you know you can get your passport in as little as 2 days? Read about my experience here. research

Researching will help you determine where you want to go and what you want to do. Researching can be time consuming, but now that the internet and social media is so vast you can get a lot of information with the click of a button. You can search Instagram hashtags like #ExploreAmsterdam, joining Facebook travel groups, Google, blogs and more. On my website, I always make to share prices so that someone can see how achievable a destination is.

Plan

Plan, plan, plan! Planning does not mean you have to do everything accordingly, but it is important to have some kind of template in place. Have an idea if you want to go near or far, what amount you are willing to spend, and the amount of time you will have and write it down. Writing things down and seeing it builds up momentum. That momentum will give you a push to make it happen. Always remember that a simple road trip over the weekend or a staycation can still be a great travel getaway.

stop being afraid & stay inspired

Like the Nike slogan says, “Just Do It”. Anxiety is a controlling b*tch and can get the best of us if we allow it to. Stay inspired, put aside your doubts, build up that courage and book that trip.
